The second world war caused the definitive separation of the talented Brno brothers. Composer Pavel stayed in his homeland and was later murdered in Auschwitz, where the harrowing epilogue of his musical work was created. Actor Hugo emigrated and survived the war. Although Hugo's name is more publicly known, Pavel Haas's fate represents a remarkable life story, along with his diverse musical work, including orchestral and chamber compositions as well as stage and film music. Original theatre play Noir Haas moves from imaginative images on the edge of historical fidelity and fiction to an original dialogue with the genre of a classical biography.
