"The author of the poem Letter to My Son is my mother Ilse Weber, murdered in Auschwitz. I am Hanus, the son referred to in this poem."
Hanus Weber was sent to Sweden at the age of eight as part of a rescue operation. There he lived far from home, from his family, from everything that the Second World War had brought. He had no idea what was really happening to his parents and his brother Tommy. His only source of contact was letters with his mother. The production, pieced together from scraps of correspondence and poems by Ilse Weber, traces the inner workings of a man who had to leave something important behind.
